Asher Penny

About
Asher Penny (he/they) is a Cardiff-based flautist who specialises in contemporary classical music, performing with electronics and curating immersive devised performances.
Asher enjoys pushing the boundaries of traditional classical performance, using electronics and skills from other performance disciplines to devise immersive performances. His latest project, TransLucidity, explores the dissociation he experienced as a teenager whilst he grappled with his transgender identity.
He graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2026, under the tutelage of Sarah Newbold, Sarah Bennington, and Matthew Feathersotone. He is continuing his studies at RWCMD, doing a master's in music, specialising in flute performance with composition.
